This role is an in‑office position (5 days per week) based at our Head Office location. Our team is highly collaborative, and much of our work benefits from in‑person co‑creation, relationship‑building, and hands‑on partnership with leaders across the organization. We offer flexibility in start and end times while maintaining core business hours for shared availability across the team.
Our Communications, Strategy and Planning team is looking for a Graphic Designer. This individual will lead, partner and direct internal clients and external stakeholders from multiple portfolios within Communications and Community Engagement to visually express the Metrolinx and its capital project brands in new, engaging, and emerging channels using traditional (2D) graphics.

Conceptualize, design, and create original graphic layouts to support communications plans, Community Engagement physical collateral, social media, video

Collaborate with clients, team members, and stakeholders to understand project objectives and provide creative solutions

Use industry-standard software such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop to create graphic layouts

Use typography, illustrations, and other design elements to create engaging and visually appealing graphics

Create visually consistent and aesthetically pleasing designs that align with the brand guidelines

Review graphics to ensure quality and consistency, providing feedback and acting as final approval point before creative is sent to production and released

Act as a gatekeeper for all brand-related materials and communications and be willing to push back on external contractors and internal collaborators who may be proposing ideas or designs that do not align with the brand vision or guidelines

Work with clients and stakeholders from a wide range of business units and capital projects, at senior executive to individual creator level, to understand project scope, goals, and objectives, and develop a plan to achieve them in a timely manner, managing expectations accordingly

Create project timelines, set milestones, and schedule tasks with an understanding of bigger-picture departmental prioritization goals to ensure that many projects competing for support stay on track and are completed on time

Completion of a college diploma in graphic design, or related field or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent

Demonstrated experience in graphic design in an advertising or in-house environment

Experience designing complex graphics, animations, and graphic layouts for a diverse array of media, including print, social media, interactive media, smartphones, screens and the web, among others

Experience in working with various types of post-production design software

Ability to conceptualize and create original creative concepts and animation sequence layouts

Knowledge of UX and accessibility principles and best practices and how they can be applied to design

Well versed in the latest graphic design methods, best practices, techniques, and associated principles

Experience in corporate brand adherence, development, and execution

Excellent organizational and project/time management skills to develop and manage multiple projects simultaneously, multitask over long periods, meet all established deadlines and manage expectations of business partners and stakeholders

Experience working in a complex environment with multiple levels of approval Commitment and ability to stay current and stay on top of new developments through various continuing education opportunities and a strong commitment to continuous learning
